2 Books. 2 Related ideas.

(Note: Michael and I are thinking that this assignment will result in 2 books, but you are free to create 2 items of any form: posters, exhibits, websites, etc.)

You will create 2 books.

The first will be based on a text that you choose. The second will be based on a word (representing an idea or concept that relates to your chosen text) — that Michael and I will assign.

There is no minimum or maximum on the size of the text for the first book, but you should be looking for something that is easy to read in a single sitting. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a short story, an essay or a manifesto.

Form, process and media are open.

Schedule

• September 24 — assignment given
• September 28 — ideas for text for first book to be emailed to Michael & James
• October 1 — text for first book due. Ideas & Form for the first book due
• October 8 — rough comps for first book due
• October 15 — 2nd round of comps for first book & a blank paper mock-up of the book
• October 22 — refined comps for first book due
• October 29 — refined comps for first book due (from last week, just bring them in) & rough comps for second book due
• November 5 — 2nd round of comps for second book & a blank paper mock-up of the 2nd book
• November 12 — refined comps for second book due
• November 19 — Continued work on both books, bring everything that you into class
• November 26 — No Class
• December 3 — Continued work on both books, as close to final as possible
• December 10 — Final Books Due
