Mutilated Currency
Monday, 13 October

Objective

The Department of the Treasury (the US department in charge of printing, issuing and disposing of money) has hired you to help them create a mailer for the mutilated currency exchange program.

The mailer should make it easy for someone to mail mutilated currency to the treasury department for exchange. The following goals need to be met:

  • The mailer should accommodate 50, flat and unfolded bills.
  • The mailer should visually communicate the idea of damaged money
  • Do not concern yourself with the text for residue requirements or other descriptive text that appears of the Treasury’s website.
  • The mailer should contain a form that contains fields for:
  • First and Last name
  • Street Address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip Code
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • How the currency was damaged (Buried, Burned, Water or Other)
  • Value of enclosed currency

Restrictions

The item you design must fit within the postal regulations for a letter:

Everything else (media, process, etc) is open

Schedule

  • 20 October: Sketches due
  • 27 October: Comps due
  • 03 November: Finals Due

Grading

[A-F] Overall concept and clarity of the mailer
[A-F] Clarity and functionality of form (name, address, etc)
[A-F] 3D design and functionality of mailer
[A-F] Production
[A or F] All deadlines met.
